Crane Magnet

    Most Industrial Lifting Electromagnets are suspended by chains and use electric motors as the traction power to lift weights. The electromagnet itself is merely a holding tool. It is widely used for lifting and handling magnetic heavy objects, such as steel ingots, steel materials, iron ore, scrap iron, etc. The application of lifting electromagnets can not only reduce the labor intensity. It can also improve work efficiency.

 

     When an iron core is inserted inside an electrified solenoid, the iron core is magnetized by the magnetic field of the electrified solenoid. The magnetized core also becomes a magnet. Thus, due to the superposition of the two magnetic fields, the magnetic property of the solenoid is greatly enhanced. In order to make the electromagnet more magnetic, the iron core is usually made into a horseshoe shape. However, it should be noted that the winding directions of the coils on the horseshoe-shaped core are opposite, with one side being clockwise and the other side must be counterclockwise. If the winding directions are the same, the magnetization effects of the two coils on the core will cancel each other out, making the core non-magnetic. In addition, the core of the electromagnet should be made of soft iron instead of steel. Otherwise, once the steel is magnetized, it will maintain its magnetism for a long time and cannot demagnetize. Then, the strength of its magnetism cannot be controlled by the size of the current, and the advantages that a lifting electromagnet should have will be lost.
