Ultra-high wear resistance
The Akron wear value of UHMWPE sheet is only 0.03-0.07cm³/1.61km, and it performs well in high-wear fields such as mining, metallurgy, and electricity. For example, in the roller lining of the coal mine conveyor belt, UHMWPE sheet can resist the continuous friction of coal blocks and ore, and its service life is 5-8 times longer than that of ordinary steel lining; in the rolling mill guide rails of the metallurgical plant, UHMWPE lining can withstand the high-speed sliding friction of the steel billet, and the wear amount is only 1/10 of that of the steel guide rail; in the cable trench cover of the power industry, UHMWPE sheet can resist the long-term erosion of sand and rain, avoiding the problem of traditional metal cover being easily worn and perforated.
Extreme impact resistance
The cantilever beam notch impact strength of UHMWPE sheet is ≥150kJ/m² (ordinary HDPE is about 20-50kJ/m²), and it can still maintain an impact strength of ≥100kJ/m² at a low temperature of -40℃ (ordinary HDPE is prone to brittle fracture at low temperatures). This feature makes it irreplaceable in scenarios that require high impact protection, for example: in the guardrails of ski resorts, UHMWPE sheets can absorb the impact energy when skiers fall (high impact force dispersion efficiency), avoiding the safety hazards caused by the easy breakage of traditional metal guardrails; in the anti-collision pads of port terminals, UHMWPE sheets can withstand the huge impact force when ships berth (impact energy absorption rate>80%), protecting the hull and dock structure; in temporary enclosures at construction sites, UHMWPE sheets can resist the impact of falling objects from high altitudes (such as bricks and tools), reducing the risk of damage.
Self-lubrication and low friction
The friction coefficient of UHMWPE sheet is only 0.07-0.15 (close to PTFE's 0.04-0.10), and low-friction operation can be achieved without lubricants. It performs outstandingly in food machinery, textile machinery, mining equipment and other fields. For example, in the baking conveyor rails of food processing plants, UHMWPE sheets can replace metal rails to avoid lubricating oil contaminating food (in compliance with FDA standards), while reducing the running resistance of the conveyor belt (energy consumption is reduced by 10%-15%); in the roller bearings of textile mills, UHMWPE bushings can reduce the friction between yarn and bearings (friction coefficient is reduced by more than 50%), improve yarn quality and extend bearing life; in the ore conveying pipelines of mines, UHMWPE linings can reduce the friction between ore and pipe walls (wear is reduced by more than 80%), and extend the service life of the pipeline.
Chemical resistance and food-grade safety
UHMWPE sheets show good resistance to most acids, alkalis, salt solutions and organic solvents (tolerance concentration is usually <90%), and comply with FDA and EU 10/2011 food contact safety standards, suitable for applications in chemical, food, medical and other fields. For example, in the lining of chemical storage tanks, UHMWPE sheets can resist corrosion from weak acids such as dilute sulfuric acid and dilute hydrochloric acid (tolerance concentration <70%), avoiding the problem of metal storage tanks being easily corroded and perforated; in the lining of mixers in food processing plants, UHMWPE sheets can directly contact raw materials such as flour and syrup (non-toxic and odorless), and are easy to clean (smooth surface and no residue); in the surgical instrument handles of medical equipment, the biocompatibility (non-toxic and non-allergenic) and chemical resistance (can withstand medical alcohol disinfection) of UHMWPE sheets ensure long-term safety.
Lightweight and low cost
The density of UHMWPE sheet is only 0.94g/cm³, which significantly reduces transportation and installation costs. At the same time, its raw material sources are extensive (polyethylene is a bulk petrochemical product), the processing technology is mature (extrusion temperature is only 180-240℃, energy consumption is lower than PTFE and PET-P), and the comprehensive cost is only 1/5 of stainless steel and 1/3 of aluminum alloy. For example, in the roller lining of mining equipment, UHMWPE sheet can replace steel lining to reduce weight by more than 70%; in temporary enclosures at construction sites, the unit cost of UHMWPE sheet is 50%-60% lower than that of metal enclosures; in the conveyor belt guide rails of food processing plants, the lightweight design of UHMWPE sheet reduces the amount of supporting structure materials and reduces the overall cost.
