Thick PP Sheet 50mm Polypropylene Sheet
Core Performance Parameters and Advantages
1. Basic Physical Properties
Density: 0.91 g/cm³ (One of the lightest general-purpose engineering plastics, approximately 90% the weight of water and 1/7 the weight of steel)
Color: White, black, gray/blue, etc. (customizable)
Surface Condition: Smooth (flat surface of extruded sheets), slightly textured (embossing may exist in molded sheets)
2. Mechanical Properties (High Toughness + Moderate Strength)
Tensile Strength: 30-40 MPa (Lower than engineering plastics such as POM (60-75 MPa), but higher than PE (20-30 MPa));
Flexural Strength: 40-60 MPa (Can withstand moderate bending loads, such as supporting structural components);
Elastic Modulus: 1200-1800 MPa (Rigidity lower than metals/engineering plastics, but better than PE (800-1200 MPa)). MPa);
Elongation at break: 200%-400% (extremely high toughness, can be stretched significantly without breaking, impact resistant and not easily brittle);
Notched impact strength: 20-40 kJ/m²;
Hardness (Shore D): 60-70 (relatively soft surface, resistant to minor scratches but easily marked).

3. Heat Resistance (Stable at medium and low temperatures, heat-resistant modification optional)
Glass Transition Temperature (Tg): Approximately 0℃ (critical temperature at which the amorphous region begins to soften);
Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT, 1.82 MPa load): 80-100℃ (ordinary PP), heat-resistant modified PP (such as glass fiber reinforced) can reach 120-150℃;
Melting Point: 160-170℃ (crystal melting temperature of isotactic PP);
Continuous Use Temperature: -20℃ to 80℃ (long-term stability), short-term resistance to 100-120℃ (e.g., short-term high-temperature conditions).
Limitations: Ordinary PP thick sheets are not suitable for long-term use in environments >100℃ (high temperatures intensify molecular chain movement, leading to decreased mechanical properties), but adding glass fiber (GF), calcium carbonate (filler), or heat-resistant agents can significantly improve heat resistance (modified heat-resistant PP thick sheets can be used in 120-150℃ environments).
4. Chemical Resistance (Strong Corrosion Resistance)
Acid and Alkali Resistance: It shows almost no reaction at room temperature to dilute hydrochloric acid (30%), dilute sulfuric acid (30%), sodium hydroxide (30%), and potassium hydroxide (30%) (no corrosion after long-term immersion); it will slowly degrade in strong oxidizing acids (such as concentrated nitric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid);
Organic Solvent Resistance: Stable to water, alcohols (such as ethanol and isopropanol), aliphatic hydrocarbons (such as gasoline and kerosene), and weakly polar oils (such as mineral oil); however, it will swell or dissolve in aromatic hydrocarbons (such as benzene and toluene), chlorinated hydrocarbons (such as carbon tetrachloride and chloroform), and ketones (such as acetone and butanone) (long-term contact should be avoided);
Water/Water Vapor Resistance: Water absorption rate is only 0.01%-0.03% (extremely low; dimensions remain almost unchanged after long-term immersion in water).
Typical Applications: Thick PP sheets are suitable for lining acid and alkali storage tanks in chemical equipment (such as sulfuric acid/sodium hydroxide tanks), sewage treatment pond covers, and electroplating tank protective plates (resistant to corrosion from various chemical media).
5. Electrical Properties (Excellent Insulation)
Volume Resistivity: >10¹⁵ Ω·cm (extremely high insulation);
Dielectric Strength: ≥25 kV/mm (resistant to high voltage breakdown);
Dielectric Constant: 2.0-2.2 (low, low signal transmission interference).
Typical Applications: Thick PP sheets can be used for electrical equipment enclosures (such as distribution box liners) and low-voltage system isolation panels (balancing insulation and corrosion resistance).
6. Other Characteristics
Processability: Can be processed into complex shapes (such as curved containers, irregularly shaped protective covers) through die-cutting, stamping, thermoforming (e.g., vacuum forming, hot pressing), and welding (hot air welding/ultrasonic welding);
Hygiene: Meets food contact safety standards (e.g., FDA, EU EC 1935/2004), suitable for food processing equipment linings and pharmaceutical storage trays (non-toxic, odorless, and washable);
Environmental friendliness: Recyclable, produces no toxic gases when burned (mainly decomposes into carbon dioxide and water).
Typical Application Scenarios and Suitable Fields
1. Chemical Industry and Environmental Protection
- Acid and Alkali Storage Tank/Reaction Tank Linings: Thick PP plate linings for storage tanks containing sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, etc. (resistant to strong acid and alkali corrosion, reducing costs by replacing stainless steel);
- Sewage Treatment Equipment: Septic tank covers, sedimentation tank protective plates (resistant to sewage corrosion, lightweight and easy to install);
- Electroplating Tank Protective Plates: Corrosion-resistant isolation layer for electroplating solutions (prevents liquid leakage and resists metal ion corrosion).
2. Industry and Equipment Manufacturing
- Equipment Protective Covers: Impact-proof/dustproof covers for machine tools and motors (oil-resistant and impact-resistant, protecting internal components);
- Pallets and Shelving: Thick PP plate pallets for logistics and warehousing (load-bearing capacity ≥500kg/㎡, resistant to forklift wheel pressure and moisture-proof);
- Pipeline Insulation Outer Sheets: Thermal insulation outer protection for high-temperature pipelines (temperature-resistant modified PP can withstand 120℃ steam).
3. Construction and Decoration
- Partitions/Ceilings: Lightweight partition boards for factories and laboratories (sound insulation, heat insulation, and easy cleaning);
