How does a two-color shuttle pad printer print cups?

It is common to use a screen printer to print cylindrical cups because it can cover the entire circumference of the cup. Due to the huge amount of cups, semi-automatic curved cup screen printer and fully automatic curved screen printer have been in hot sales in recent years.

Can pad printer be used to print cups? The answer is yes. Pad printers have the following characteristics when printing cups:

1) Making fixtures

There are two ways to make fixtures for cups: One is to make a fixed fixture, with the side of the cup to be printed facing up. At this time, the two-color pad printer can print two colors on the cup, and its size is roughly equivalent to one-third of the circumference of the cup; the other is to make a rotating fixture. During the printing process, the rubber head is pressed down to keep and the cup rotates, and the printing length will be extended, which is equivalent to a curved pad printer. The accuracy of pad printers in printing cups is not as high as that of screen printers. If the diameter of the cup is too large, the cost of pad printers will also increase.

2) Pattern deformation

The pattern on the steel plate is flat, and the pattern will be deformed after being transferred to the cup. This is the characteristic of the pad printer. The precision of the screen printer lies in the fact that the pattern on the screen printer can completely overlap with the pattern on the cup at a ratio of 1:1, which the pad printer cannot do. Although the curved pad printer can reduce this deformation, the deformation of the rubber head itself is unavoidable.

3) Color registration problem

The two-color pad printer can perform two-color registration, which is the advantage of the pad printer. This is difficult for the curved screen printer to do with low-cost investment. If the curved screen printer performs color registration, it is necessary to replace the ink and screen, or use a two-color fully automatic screen printer, the cost of the machine will increase significantly. The pad printer can do it easily. As mentioned earlier, the pad printer can only print two colors on one side of the cup. If the fixture can control the cup to rotate 45 degrees, 90 degrees, and 135 degrees, the two-color pad printer can print two colors on the four symmetrical sides of the cup, and the added value of the cup will be improved.

4) Efficiency problem

The speed of semi-automatic screen printing machine is not high. It can print 1,000 cups per hour, and the two-color pad printing machine can print 800. The efficiency is relatively low. Under the premise of increasingly fierce market competition, improving speed is a direction, which requires the use of fully automatic cup pad printing machine and fully automatic cup screen printing machine.
