The laser collimating lens, also called a collimator lens, is an optical element designed to focus or de-focus laser beams or to focus at infinity with minimal parallax.Collimating lenses are essential in fiber optics, ensuring light is efficiently coupled into fibers and transferred across optical systems without significant loss, this is crucial for high speed data transmission in telecommunications, widely used in fields such as laser processing, communication, medical treatment, scientific research and measurement.
Optical Lens and optical mirrors are commonly used to collimate beams. In this process, the initially diverging beam is reflected by a lens or mirror whose focal length matches the divergence angle of the incident beam, by adjusting the focal length and position of the lens or mirro, wavefront of the beam becomes planar, thereby eliminating divergence and producing a parallel collimated beam.
